Book #191: Fly Guy Presents: Weather by Tedd Arnold

Fly Guy Presents: Weather

Tedd Arnold

 Released: September 13th, 2016

My 57th book for 2026 was Tedd Arnold’s Fly Guy Presents: Weather.

I was working the other day, and one of my individuals has noticed that I enjoy reading.  He has started to ask me to read to him.  We read several of the other Fly Guy books a little while ago.  He found some more and had me read them to him.  As a result, I added them to the reading list.  After all, it's a book, and if it encourages a younger reader to check it out, or even their parent reading this to get it for them, then it's worth it.

This one takes a look at weather and discusses what it is, how it works, what effects it, and what humans do to exist with constantly changing weather.  It's a good book with a lot of great information.

I love these Fly Guy books directed at young readers.  They provide good solid information, leave things that retain well in the memory, and make it fun for readers of younger ages.

Here is what I learned:

—————

  • For Nicole — T.A.
  • Thank you to meteorologist Scott Collis, and AnnMarie Anderson for their contributions to the book.
  • Buzz and Fly Guy visit a weather station.
  • Weather changes all the time.
  • People wear sunglasses when it is sunny.
  • Sunscreen protects from UV rays from the Sun.
  • Earth’s weather is controlled by the Sun.
  • Earth’s atmosphere is made up of air and water.
  • Moving air is called wind.
  • Wind that moves quickly is called a gale.
  • Raindrops are shaped more like hamburger buns than teardrops
  • Cloud types include: Cirrus, Cumulus, Stratus, and Cumulonimbus.
  • Blizzard winds can blow as fast as 45 mph.
  • The New York Blizzard of 1888 dropped 50 inches of snow in 36 hours.
  • Lightning is hotter than the surface of the Sun.
  • Hurricanes are also known as Tropical Cyclones and Typhoons.
  • Tornados usually only last 10 minutes.
  • A Dust Storm is known as a Black Blizzard.
  • Meteorologists are scientists who study changes in weather.
  • A climatologist is a scientist who studies Earth’s climates.
  • Buzz and Fly Guy planted a tree.

Overall, another great book for young readers to learn more about weather and how it starts and occurs.  Lots of details and information.

Recommended for younger readers.

On to Book #192: Super Why: Alpha Pig's Alphabet Adventure by Angela C. Santomero.
