Book #155: Adventures In Babysitting by Elizabeth Faucher

Adventures in Babysitting Elizabeth Faucher   Released: January 1st, 1987 My 21st book for 2026 was Elizabeth Faucher's Adventures in Babysitting. Another classic 1980's novelization.  Nothing too different or special here.  Essentially follows the plot of the classic movie to a T.   I always loved this story...but then again, maybe that's because growing up I had a celebrity crush on Elisabeth Shue (I totally understand Brad's love of Chris).  I'm not sure if it's her smile, her long gorgeous hair, or her name being spelled the alternate way.  I'm glad they had the rendition of "Then He Kissed Me" by the Crystals.  I could hear the song playing out in my head as Shue dances around her room getting ready for her date.  Classic Movie/Book Moments.  I always wished I could jump through my TV and dance with her... Alright, back on track, and putting my Elisabeth Shue crush on hold for a moment. Chris Parker has her anniversary date c...

Book #154: Midnight Graffiti by Various

Midnight Graffiti Various   Released: January 1st, 1992 My 20th book for 2026 was a Variety Novel first published in the magazine Midnight Graffiti. What a weird book.  I picked up this one first because this is the first time I have ever completed a Stephen King story.  Secondly, the cover looked pretty cool.  That's about all that was cool. As I go along, I’ll review them story by story. Rainy Season by Stephen King. This was about a couple relocating to Willow, ME.  They are warned by the neighbors about Rainy Season, but ignore the warnings and decide to stick it out.  A storm of toad rains down before melting into a sort of ooze the couple must now face life or death against.  Thankfully, it only happens once every 7 years. This was my first full exposure to Stephen King.  I have read about 200 pages of The Stand in the past, but never finished a King novel.  This 30-page short story might not be his best work, but it was a good i...

Book #153: The Life Impossible by Matt Haig

The Life Impossible Matt Haig   Released: September 3rd, 2024 My 19th book for 2026 was Matt Haig’s "The Life Impossible".   I first got into Matt Haig about a year ago.  My ex had me read " The Midnight Library ".  I wasn't sure what to make of it, but after reading it all in less than a day, I knew it was pure gold.  The other good news: They just announced that there will be a Midnight Library movie in development soon.  Super exciting news. The funny thing about Midnight Library is that it's a self-reflective tale.  Often times in this negative and depressing world, we're left feeling hopeless.  As if things simply will never get better or pining for a different life altogether. This one is a little bit different.  72-year-old Grace Winters has been left a house in Ibiza by a former colleague named Christina van der Berg, that she took care of by inviting over to celebrate Christmas one year.  Upon arrival, Grace discovers that ...
