Book #20: The 6:20 Man


 Book #7 complete for the year (2023)

Absolutely stunning thriller.  I discovered David Baldacci in a Half-Priced Books store and grabbed several of his novels as they looked interesting.  What a thrill this one was.  

- First post-COVID Era Book I’ve read
- Devine has post-war PTSD
- Combat skills are top notch
- Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer
- Each bit of the story becomes shocking and thrilling
- I read most of this book in page chunks of 100+.  Engaging read
- I truly hope they make a movie of this
- Beware of Red/Green Bikinis
- Phone Apps could clone a One Twenty-Five RFID card
- Will Valentine’s baby cousin could hack One Twenty-Five security cards
- NFC Chips are stronger security cards
- Interesting mix of progressive ideas without being overly done
- Well written, cryptic, and suspense-fully thrilling

I recommend this one.  Good stuff

Book #75: Home Alone by Todd Strasser

  Home Alone Todd Strasser   Released: January 1st, 1991 My 5th book for 2025 was Todd Strasser's “Home Alone”. I love Home Alone!  Half my Christmas this year was a treasure trove of Home Alone gear, books, and other things.  It was an absolute blast.  I've been on a bit of a Macaulay Culkin kick lately.  I read " My Girl " which was based on the film he starred in back in August.  I saw the Home Alone movies again over the holidays.  Then I read his book " Junior " earlier this month.  Now this one.  I also have Daniel Stern's book "Home and Alone" on tap as well. Book #76: “When Pride Still Mattered” by David Maraniss

  When Pride Still Mattered David Maraniss   Released: September 3rd, 2000 My 6th book for 2025 was David Maraniss' “When Pride Still Mattered”. You will never find a more Vince Lombardi title for a book about the man than "When Pride Still Mattered".  The legendary Green Bay Packers coach was known for discipline, standards, excellence, greatness, and glory.  The title suggests that "pride" is no longer a sufficient virtue in the modern world. This was a difficult book to read.  The material itself is very good, and you learn a lot about the man and his lifetime.  For some reason, whether the font size or formatting of the book, I struggled getting through it, and reading one page felt like reading three pages.  There were many days when my total page count read was 7, 8, or 10, as opposed to 20, 30, or 40.
