Book #18 finished for the year.

I started this book in April.  I had hoped to get through the entire series in a week, but between a big move, new job, and other things, it didn’t happen.  It’s not a bad book, but it just didn’t move along like the previous 2.

This book sets itself apart because it is a book about a war brewing.  It picks up immediately where Catching Fire let off.  The rebels prepare to go against the Capital by planning, training, and remaining hidden through the entire book.  I felt it was a bit prolonged.  There’s a good triangle between Katniss, Gale, and Peeta.  Lists of twists and turns.  Moments where you wonder who is on which side.

Overall, good book, but prefer the first two.  Recommended to complete the series if you’ve read the first two.

I have checked every used bookstore I have walked into from Maryland, to Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, Louisiana, Florida, California, Virginia, Oregon, Washington...flea markets, yard sales, estate sales, antique shops, the Mi le-Long Yard Sale, Powell's Books, Wonderbook & Video, Half-Price Books, Wee-Scot Book Shop, Borders, Waldenbooks, Books-A-Million, Barnes & Noble...the lis t goes on and on.  I have come to the conclusion that this is an extremely rare book to come by.  You would think a paperback book from 1988 would not be that difficult to find. Book 42: “Friday the 13th Part 3” by Simon Hawke

  Friday the 13th Part 3 Simon Hawke   Released: May 3rd, 1988 My 12th book for 2024 was Simon Hawke's “Friday the 13th Part 3” novelization. I was given the opportunity to read this by a fellow fan Aaron.  Special shout-out to him for helping me obtain the text to read the novel. This is a special adaptation as it is the only story of the Friday the 13th movies to be adapted twice.  The first one, " Friday the 13th Part 3: 3D "  was adapted in 1982 by Michael Avallone.  This 2nd version was adapted in 1988 and released in subsequent order with Hawke's 2 prior novels based on Parts 1 & 2. Part 3 was the last of the original Friday the 13th movies I saw when I first started watching them in 2003/2004.  It has long since been one of my favorites.  It has a very unique style that makes it stand out from the other films.  And that's before taking into account the film was shot in 3D to capitalize on the craze going on in the early 1980's. Book #43: Friday the 13th Part 6: Jason Lives

  Friday the 13th Part 6: Jason Lives Simon Hawke   Released: January 1st, 1986 My 13th book (how fitting?) for 2024 was Simon Hawke's “Friday the 13th Part 6: Jason Lives” novelization. I was given the opportunity to read this by a fellow fan Aaron.  Special shout-out to him for helping me obtain the text to read the novel. If you've been following along the last few blog entries, you're probably wondering why I would skip from Part 3 straight to Part 6.  The truth is, Parts 4 and 5 were never novelized. This has been my understanding of the situation over the years.  In 1986, the producers hired Simon Hawke to write a novelized form of their newest Friday the 13th film, which was Part 6.  The novel did reasonably well, and as a result, Hawke was asked to go back and novelize the previous entries in the series.  He did Parts 1 and 2 which released over 1987 and 1988.  He then did a second novelization of Part 3 in mid 1988 (Part 3 had originally been novelized at the time
